Dolphins Active As The Weather Warms Up !

Dolphins were sighted on 23 days during October on our cruises.  The 18th of October saw a large pod of approximately 20 dolphins join us on our 3pm cruise.  They had a wonderful time playing in the wake of the boat, putting on a show for our passengers.  The start of November has also seen the dolphins very active.  20 minutes of video footage was taken on the 17th of November of the dolphins and we will hopefully get that up on our Blog and Facebook page shortly.  As the weather warms up please be aware of the wild dolphins that frequent our waterways and feel free to share your sightings, photos and videos on our Facebook page!

Spotted… A brand new baby dolphin!

Spotted… A brand new baby dolphin!
What a week it has been in Mandurah!  We only cruised with our lovely local dolphin population on a couple of days this week due to the stormy weather that passed through the town.  We are happy to be back operating and enjoying cruising with locals and tourists now that the weather is returning to ‘normal’ beautiful winter.  However, all the rain does not deter the fun loving dolphins from splashing about! And the crew have spotted what we believe to be a brand new baby in the water! When you cruise with us please keep a special eye out for this new addition to the dolphin population here in the estuary!
Here are our reported dolphin sightings for the week that was!  We are all looking forward to the beautiful weather that is forecast for the upcoming few days!

Why are dolphins coloured the way they are?

Do you know why dolphins are generally dark grey on top and light coloured below?  Keep reading and you will find the answer below.
Great dolphin sightings on our 1 hour dolphin and canal scenic tour this week again! The coat skipper and crews have been having loads of fun leading happy customers on our cruises.  Lots of dolphin sightings again this week. Dont be put off by the weather that has turned a little wet of late.  Hot drinks are available on most of our vessels and don't forget that wet weather does not effect the dolphin population here in the estuary as they love the water! Please see below for all our reported dolphin sightings this week and to get the answer to the above question.

Answer to earlier question:

The colours of the dolphin helps to camouflage the animal so when potential predators look up from the deep, the light grey belly blends in with bright surface waters. When seen from above, the grey back blends in with the deep dark waters below.

Dolphin splash about weekend!

Thank-you to all our fun visitors that cruised with us over the weekend! A great time was had by all aboard and the weather was fantastic for cruising the beautiful canals here in Mandurah.  The local dolphins were splashing about and enjoying their regular swim along with our boats which gave the passengers plenty of opportunity to get that nice close up picture with the wild dolphins here on Mandjar Bay.  This photo was taken by a crew member on Saturday and is now winning the hearts of our friendly staff here at Mandurah Cruises.  Tell your friends to come and cruise with us this weekend, it's sure to be great!
